Concept art for George Miller’s scrapped Justice League Mortal film reveals how actor Adam Brody may have looked like as The Flash.
For those who don’t know, way back in 2007, Mad Max director George Miller was set to take the most famous DC characters to the silver screen for the first time ever. He even had a Justice League line-up ready, with actors and actresses attached to the project. Armie Hammer was set to play Batman, D.J. Cotrona was to be Superman, Adam Brody was cast as Barry Allen/The Flash, with Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter and rapper Common as John Stewart/Green Lantern.
Lo and behold, the film never saw the light of day. Nevertheless, concept artwork for some of the superheroes was recently revealed. We can see The O.C. alum Adam Brody’s The Flash in all its glory. Check it out:

The image even featured some details about his suit for Adam Brody’s version of The Flash. For example, the ear wings of his helmet would help him when he broke the sound barrier. Other details on the suit are also included but, alas, they’re very blurry.
Although Adam Brody did not get the chance to play The Flash in Justice League Mortal, the actor will appear in DC’s upcoming Shazam! film as the grown-up, superpowered version of Jack Dylan Grazer’s Freddy Freeman.
How do you think Justice League Mortal would have fared if it was released back then? Would it have succeeded? Do you think Adam Brody was a good choice to play The Flash? Sound off in the comment section down below!
Although we didn’t get George Miller’s Justice League Mortal or Adam Brody as The Flash, we did get Zack Snyder’s Justice League. After Justice League, Aquaman followed. The DCEU continues in April with Shazam! on April 5, 2019, which will be followed by Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019
Here is the synopsis for Shazam! DC’s next film:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, DC Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, Adam Brody, and Ron Cephas.
Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the current DC cinematic universe as we learn it.
