Arjona is in talks to play Martine Bancroft, the fiancée of Dr. Michael Morbius, who, in the comics, was a famed scientist that attempted to cure himself of a rare blood disease but developed a form of vampirism instead. The film which will be based on the Marvel comic Morbius the Living Vampire is set to featuring Leto in the starring role. The popular anti-hero first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #101.
Sony’s Morbius film is set to be directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) from a script written by Netflix’s Lost in Space creators Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will produce the film with Lucas Foster. Palak Patel will oversee for the project for the studio.
Morbius will be the first film to expand Sony’s Universe of Spider-Man Characters after Venom managed $852 million at the worldwide box office. The film is set to go into production in early 2019.
