How ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Ghost Rider Will Bring Fitz & Simmons Closer

Ghost Rider & Fitz and Simmons

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally kicking off its fourth season tonight on ABC as the Marvel hit continues its adventures which this year will be quite hot with the introduction of Robbie Reyes a.k.a. Ghost Rider (played by Gabriel Luna).

One of the most beloved aspects of the series has always been the duo Fitz and Simmons (or as the show and fandom calls it, “FitzSimmons”) who have come a long way in their relationship, with their romantic feelings coming out last season. In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, the actors was asked about if Ghost Rider’s introduction on the show will possibly bring the two closer or perhaps further away from one another.

While Iain De Caestecker, who plays Leo Fitz, said “Both – That’s a diplomatic answer.”, his co-star, Elizabeth Henstridge, who plays Jemma Simmons, went a bit more in detail with the following response.

“We’re going to see them face some challenges. We’ve seen them be on different sides of an issue before, but I think now that they are romantically involved, the stakes are higher. I don’t know how they’re going to react to him [Ghost Rider] down the road, but I think the big thing between them right now is a secrecy thing. They’re kind of split up in work for the first time.”

Do you hope to see Fitz and Simmons finally get their happy ending this season on the show? Let us know in the comments below.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 begins tonight at 10/9c on ABC.
