‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Referenced In Saturday Night Live Trump Sketch

In the most unlikely of all places, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD received a bit of a shout out during this past weekend’s new episode of Saturday Night Live.

It was brief, but during the cold open of the recent SNL episode, Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump took questions from the audience. He refused to take questions from NBC, citing the reason is because they suck. Well, there you go. However, he noted that ABC sucks as well, but at least they have Agents of SHIELD, adding that he loves The Shield. Whether he’s talking about the Marvel series or, you know, The Shield, is a different conversation.

However, this quick reference did not go unnoticed. Maurissa Tancharoen, who is the current showrunner on Agents of SHIELD, recorded a video of the reference and shared the honorable mention on her Instagram page, which you can see in the video below.

Though chances are the Agents of SHIELD characters won’t be mentioning this shoutout in the upcoming season. More so since there’s already a President of the United States in the MCU who isn’t Donald Trump… unless you’re watching Luke Cage, where the President is Donald Trump, but semantics. What do you think of Saturday Night Live referencing the Marvel program? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Jeff Ward, and Natalia Cordova-Buckley. The series will return to ABC in July 2019.
