Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Inhumans Not Crossing Over With ‘Civil War’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been very closely tied to Marvel’s Television counterpart. It appears that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will not be tying into Captain America: Civil War. In the original comic book lore, the Inhumans existed when heroes chose sides between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.

During a set visit to Civil War, HitFix interviewed Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. They explained that this film takes place on a more global scale and differs from the original comic books. McFeely explained:

“There will be a Stamford Incident but it’s not Stamford. We’ll have an incident that will force the governments of the world to go, ‘Wait a second. Let’s talk about the laundry list of things that we’re not happy about. Let’s finally do something about that.’ It’s more about oversight than unmasking or outing anyone.”

During the set visit it was also announced that the writers of Civil War hadn’t been keeping up with S.H.I.E.L.D. This latest season of S.H.I.E.L.D has been introducing many different Inhumans but it’s not likely that any of these characters would cross over into this major tent pole film.

It appears that both camps (television and cinematic) haven’t been communicating.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, March 8 at 9/8c on ABC with the first episode titled, “Bouncing Back.”
