20th Century Fox Trademarks ‘Alien: Blackout’ For Game Usage

Even though much of 20th Century Fox’s assets may soon be absorbed into the House of Mouse, that doesn’t mean that the house that Fox built is just going to sit on its franchises while waiting for the inevitable. Case in point, the Alien franchise. While Fox is still utilizing its Alien franchise, as seen as most recently as 2017’s Alien: Covenant, the series may soon be set for the world of video games based on a recent report.

According to Gematsu, 20th Century Fox recently trademarked “Alien: Blackout” specifically for, per the report, “computer game discs; software, namely game software.” Now let’s do a bit of digging here. Coming soon next month is The Game Awards 2018, specifically on December 6. The teaser image for the awards ceremony teased “Worlds with Change” repeatedly showing a retro font with a “W” that’s reminiscent of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation of the Aliens films themselves.

This awards show is hosted by Geoff Keighley, who is good friends of the man himself, the brains behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Hideo Kojima, seemingly teased an announcement with a visit to 20th Century Fox, which he shared on his Twitter a few days ago, which you can see in the tweet below:

So could all of this culminate in the announcement of an Alien video game for current generation consoles? Time will tell and we won’t get a solid answer of that until the premiere of this year’s The Game Awards next month. Would you want to see an Alien: Blackout video game?
