With San Diego Comic-Con upon us, the Alien Anthology Twitter page has officially announced that production on Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant has finally wrapped. To celebrate, they’ve also released a brand new behind-the-scenes image of the director alongside Katherine Waterston in full costume as Daniels. You can check it out below.
The cast of the highly anticipated movie also includes Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Noomi Rapace, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo and Billy Crudup. Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, but we do know that McBride will be playing the pilot of the colony ship Covenant, while Fassbender will be playing two different characters, one of which will be David 8 from 2012’s Prometheus.
Here’s the synopsis of the movie:
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien: Covenant opens in theaters on August 4, 2017. Are you guys excited?
