‘Alita: Battle Angel’ Adds Keean Johnson

The cast of Alita: Battle Angel is shaping up nicely. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Nashville actor Keean Johnson has joined the James Cameron-produced adaptation of the popular manga series in a key role.

The film is being directed by Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk till Dawn). The actor joins a cast which so far includes Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jackie Earl Haley and Ed Skrein. Production is set to begin this fall for a July 2018 release.

The story revolves around a female cyborg named Alita (played by Salazar), who is discovered by a scientist and eventually becomes a bounty hunter with no memories of her previous life. Johnson will play a character named Hugo, who will serve as a love interest in the story.
