And that’s not even getting into the Green Lantern references, which go back as far as the first season of The Flash when, while at a Ferris Air testing facility, Barry remarks to Captain Cold that the facility was once shut down because a test pilot disappeared. Hal Jordan? Probably, but there’s been no follow-up on that, and probably never will be. The Arrowverse may have Justice League members like Superman, The Flash, and Martian Manhunter among its ranks, but the likes of Batman and Green Lantern have been teased with no possibility of a payoff.
That may not change anytime soon, despite the interest of some Arrowverse cast members have expressed in regards to seeing Batman appear on the small screen DC shared universe. However, that doesn’t stop fans from asking. And this is the case for Stephen Amell, who was asked during a Facebook Q&A about whether Batman or Green Lantern could join the Arrowverse. His answer? “I would never say never.”
Okay, so that’s more of a non-answer than anything else, but consider the fact that we’re getting Ruby Rose making her debut in the Elseworlds crossover as Batwoman. While not Batman himself, it’s at least as close of a nod to the world of Gotham City and the Dark Knight’s home that we’ll see until Bruce Wayne himself appears. Plus, as far as Green Lantern is concerned, in a universe where you have the Legends of Tomorrow helping guard time, as well as Supergirl’s occasional visits to space, the Corps or the Guardians of the Universe appearing doesn’t sound too far-fetched.
What do you think, though? We have Green Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, Superman, the Atom, and a wide assortment of DC characters. But how would you integrate Batman and Green Lantern into the universe? And what Earth would they be set on? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
