During the season 6 finale of Arrow, Oliver Queen makes a deal with the FBI to take down Ricardo Diaz that requires him to announce to the world that he is the Green Arrow and get sent to a Maximum Security Penitentiary. With most series, storylines like this don’t last very long, especially when it involves the titular character, but it appears that in this situation things will have a lasting effect. In a new Facebook live Q/A Stephen Amell hints that Oliver’s prison tenure will be longer than expected:
The seventh season feels really unique, we’re gonna hit 150 episodes in episode 12, which is amazing. We’re only doing 22 instead of 23 which doesn’t sound like a lot, but I promise you it is, and I just saw how long do you think Oliver is going to be in prison for. I will say, longer than everybody expects.
Recently Amell hinted at there being an alternate version of Oliver during the Elseworlds crossover. The name Elseworlds comes from the DC Comics label of stories that take place outside of the DC canon such as Superman: Red Son and Gotham by Gaslight. The crossover title has led to lots of speculation as to what this all means for the Arrowverse. A fan reached out to Amell on Twitter and asked if the crossover will feature an alternate Green Arrow due to Oliver Queen being locked up in prison for Season 7. The Arrow star was pretty coy in his response:
What do you think about Arrow keeping Oliver Queen in prison for longer than expected? Do you think there could be an alternate Green Arrow in the crossover? Sound off in the comments section below!
Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen with David Ramsey as John Diggle, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, and Colton Haynes.
There has been no shortage of close calls for Oliver Queen when it comes to protecting his Super Hero identity, but in the season six finale, he was finally backed into a corner and forced to reveal himself to the world as the Green Arrow. Now, Oliver will come face-to-face with many of the criminals he placed behind bars, as he makes a new home for himself at Slabside Maximum Security Prison. Oliver will find himself vulnerable in a way unlike ever before when a mysterious new enemy begins to unravel his work as Green Arrow, challenging him to redeem his name or risk losing everything.
Arrow Season 7 premieres on October 15 at 8:00 p.m. on The CW.
