Sony Moves Up Release Of Animated ‘Spider-Man’ Film

Sony Pictures Animation has moved up the release of the Untitled Animated Spider-Man film that is currently in development.

Sony Pictures Animation has moved up the release of the Untitled Animated Spider-Man film one week from December 21, 2018, to December 14, 2018.

Official details on the plot are still under wraps as an official synopsis has yet to be released but the film will follow Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) as he struggles between being Spider-Man and balancing the life of a teenager in high school. Ray Donovan star Liev Schreiber who has been confirmed as the film’s villain recently teased that the film will have a throwback feel.

The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have written the script. The film will be produced by Marvel Animation, Sony Pictures Animation, and Columbia Pictures with Lord and Miller also exec producing the project along with Avi Arad and Amy Pascal. Christina Steinberg is set to produce as well. The film will be directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey.

Miles Morales was originally created by American comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis along with artist Sara Pichelle. Bendis and Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso drew inspiration for the character from both U.S. President Barack Obama and American actor Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino.
