James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is currently in pre-production and now Ant-Man star David Dastmalchian has joined the cast of the DC film, with THR sources saying he will portray the comic book villain known as Polka-Dot Man. In the comics, Polka-Dot Man is a minor Batman villain who started life as low-level crook before committing crimes with polka dot themes in an attempt to make a name for himself. The villains’ spotted costume also features conceal weapons and James Gunn’s take on the character reportedly leans into the embarrassment of his “lame” abilities. Plot details for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad are currently under wraps, though David Dastmalchian’s Polka-Dot Man will reportedly be joined by fellow newcomers Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, King Shark, and some returning favorites from the original David Ayer film.
Known for his roles in Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049, and The Dark Knight, David Dastmalchian may be most recognizable to comic book fans his role in Marvel Studios Ant-Man. In those films, David Dastmalchian plays a hacker and friend of Ant-Man who later assists the tiny hero in a heist. David Dastmalchian reprised the role in the sequel titled Ant-Man and The Wasp.
