'Ant-Man and the Wasp' director Peyton Reed confirms that Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye will not be appearing in the film despite a rumor.
Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed took to Twitter a couple of days ago to dismiss the rumor that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye would be making an appearance in the film. According to Reed, this rumor fake news and Renner won’t be appearing in the upcoming sequel to Ant-Man.

Earlier this week, a news story was released claiming that Jeremy Renner will no longer be appearing in Mission Impossible 6 because he’d be filming Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp. And although the rumor of him appearing alongside Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, it still isn’t clear whether or not Renner will actually be appearing Mission Impossible 6.
Obviously, Marvel likes to use characters from their plethora of films past in new movies. In the last Ant-Man film, Falcon made an appearance and Thor appeared in last fall’s Doctor Strange. Captain America also made a cameo in Thor: The Dark World as Loki pretending to be Captain America. So it’s possible that another Avenger could appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but it definitely won’t be Hawkeye.
