‘Ant-Man And The Wasp:’ Laurence Fishburne Wants To Return As Goliath

Slap an actor or actress into a comic book adaptation and they think they’re Superman…no wait, that’s Henry Cavill. Okay, bad analogy. Let’s start over. Slap an actor or actress into a comic book adaptation and they think the sky’s the limit. Maybe you want more screen time in a potential sequel or a spin-off film to explore your character’s background and motivation. Whatever the case, an appearance in a comic adaptation could indeed leave the door open, and actors are definitely interested. Case in point, Laurence Fishburne, Goliath, and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Sure, Fishburne didn’t suit up as Goliath in Ant-Man and the Wasp, though there was the Project Goliath acknowledgement in the film. No, Fishburne was simply Bill Foster. Despite that, Fishburne has indicated his interest to remain within the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the moment. There’s no telling if he would appear in a third Ant-Man film or anywhere else in the MCU, but Fishburne has not ruled out the possibility that he could return as Goliath.

In an interview with CBR, Laurence Fishburne and Ant-Man producer Stephen Broussard sat down to discuss the film. Naturally, Fishburne was asked if he was excited about the possibility of him coming back as Goliath:

” Of course. Absolutely, that would be so cool if that were to happen.”

And that’s it. Literally. Note he says if that were to happen. Not when or definite since there’s currently no telling if Goliath will be back at any point in the MCU, past or present. Especially given that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving full speed ahead with films like The Eternals, a Doctor Strange sequel, and follow-ups to other characters. Time will tell if we will see Laurence Fishburne return and maybe suit up as Goliath, but would you like to see that happen? Let us know in the comments below.

Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and the Wasp stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, T.I., David Dastmalchian, Hannah John-Kamen, Abby Ryder Fortson, Randall Park, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Douglas. The film will be released digitally on October 2, 2018 and physically on October 16, 2018.
