Ant-Man and the Wasp: Evangeline Lilly Says Wasp Suit Is Like Iron Man

Still coping with the epic events of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel fans are already getting the next entry to the franchise in the form of Ant-Man and the Wasp, a film that reportedly will take place just before/during the events of Infinity War (which could make for an interesting, abrupt ending, but we’ll see). The film will see Hope van Dyne, whose role in the first Ant-Man was unfortunately little more than a badass love interest, don a suit of her own and become a superhero. Speaking of the suit, van Dyne actress Evangeline Lilly recently opened up about some of the details that went into its design and function as well as comparing it to the Iron Man Costume. Speaking from the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Lilly said:

“My suit is an upgrade from Scott Lang’s suit that he was wearing because he was wearing Hank’s original suit from the 1960s. So, what we were able to do with technology and my suit, I have blasters on my wrists. I have my wings. Essentially there is like a reaction system to what I am thinking. So, I don’t have to do anything physically to activate shrinking wings, blasters growing, none of that. I just think it and it happens.”

She continued, drawing comparisons to one of the most famous suits in all of Marvel: Iron Man’s, which has seen dozens of iterations since its conception back in 2008:

“I think also similar to Iron Man because you never see him press buttons or do anything. Things just happen. So, I assume there’s a tech like when you go to the hospital and they hook up those pads and things, that there’s something hooked up to my brain through the helmet and somehow it’s reading what I’m thinking.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp will be released in theaters on July 6, 2018.
