The working title for the Ant-Man sequel Ant-Man and The Wasp has been revealed as Cherry Blue. Pre-production on the project is expected to begin this month with production kicking off this June in Atlanta, GA.
Plot details on the sequel are under wraps but the film will feature the return of both Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man and Evangeline Lily and Hope Van Dyne aka The Wasp. Michael Douglass will also return reprising his role as the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym. Douglass recently announced his return on Facebook, revealing he would begin shooting scenes in July.
It’s possible the sequel could further explore Pym’s past and the devastating loss of his wife Janet after she was lost in the quantum realm. Following Scott’s return from the quantum realm in the first film, Pym was left wondering whether or not it was possible that Janet could still be alive.
Michael Pena is also confirmed to return as fan favorite Luis along with returning director Peyton Reed, who stepped in to direct the first film after Marvel parted ways with original director Edgar Wright. While the first film introduced us to incredible never before seen visual effects, Reed has also promised the sequel will also feature VFX, unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is slated to hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
