Anthony Mackie doesn't think that Sam Wilson or Bucky Barnes should replace Steve Rogers as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Speaking at Salt Lake Comic Con, Anthony Mackie explained his thoughts on the matter:
“I don’t think we need a new Cap. I don’t think Cap needs to change. I think [Sebastian Stan] would be a great Cap, but then we’re left without Bucky. I think I’d be a great Cap, but then we’re left without a Falcon.”
This is an interesting perspective on the future of these characters, and, in Anthony Mackie’s opinion, they should remain those characters and neither he nor Sebastian Stan should become Captain America. Mackie also thinks that Falcon helps bring diversity to The Avengers. Said Mackie:
“I feel like kids don’t get race. We preach so much to kids that you can be anything you want to be, and then we follow it with ‘except,’ and we have to leave that ‘except’ off.”
That was all the actor had to say on that topic, but he did have a little fun talking about something else: Falcon’s fight with Ant-Man, claiming that the way he sees it, Falcon actually emerged as the winner of that confrontation. Anthony Mackie said the following:
“I don’t know how you all do it in Utah, but when I see two people fighting and one dude gets more punches in than the other dude, that dude won the fight…I hit him more!”
Do you still want to see Falcon become Captain America? Would you rather see Bucky take on the mantle? Or let Steve Rogers continue to be the one and only Cap? Let us know your choice in the comments!
You can see Anthony Mackie as Falcon once again when ‘Captain America: Civil War’ hits theaters May 6, 2016!
