Anya Taylor-Joy Comments On Potentially Playing Magik In ‘New Mutants’

Just earlier today we got word that Fox had brought on two screenwriters to work on the script for their New Mutants film and with the film looking to be on track to hit theaters sooner than later, it should also only be a matter of time before we start to get some official casting as well. Back in March, it was reported by HitFix that The Witch breakout Anya Taylor-Joy was up for the role of Illyana Rasputin aka Magik in the upcoming X-Men spin-off.

Additionally included in that report was word that Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams was up for the role of Wolfsbane, which the actress has enthusiastically responded to shortly after. It appears that Joy had a similar response while speaking with IGN about the rumors and told the outlet the following without confirming anything.

“I think the world is really fascinating. I’d love to be a part of it. It would be wonderful.”

When asked if we can expect any official word soon, the actress simply replied that she guessed that “when they make decisions the world will know.” With New Mutants seeming more and more like one of 20th Century Fox’s scheduled 2018 Marvel films, it sounds like we’ll find out about that sooner than later. Let us know what you think about the possibility of Joy in the role and her comments in the seciton below.
