The latest adventure in the DC Extended Universe has gotten critical praise as being one of the best movies in the franchise along with Wonder Woman. Simultaneously, the movie has been breaking box office records for the series all over the world. On Wednesday, it brought in an estimated $5.8 million in 79 overseas markets. This brought the international income to an outstanding $702.9 million and the global box office to $971.5 million. The numbers for the movie continue to rise and doesn’t seem like it’s stopping anytime soon.
It’s been weeks since its initial release but Aquaman is still making waves in theaters and continues to smash records and defy audiences expectations. The DC Extended Universe has had some difficulty in the past with critical failures but with this success, it’s safe to say that Warner Bros.. and DC are moving in a positive direction. With so many DC movies coming soon, Shazam! being the next one, fans can get excited again about the future of the DC Extended Universe.
Aquaman is now playing. The DCEU will continue next with Shazam! which will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019, and will be followed by Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
