The promotional material for Aquaman hypes the film up to be a globe-trotting adventure film that, at its core, has a very human conflict. Not only does Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) have a very personal vendetta against Arthur Curry, but Arthur himself also has a personal struggle with the film’s other villain King Orm, aka Ocean Master. The trailers have featured the struggle that the two brothers share and the showdown that they ultimately must take part in.
The new promo for the film may be less than 10-seconds long but it features an incredible new shot from that very showdown. The promo comes from the Warner Bros. Latinoamerica Youtube channel and has some familiar shots such as Arthur battling an enemy on a ship, as well as him donning the iconic orange and green Aquaman costume. The new footage featured has Orm channeling his inner Neo from The Matrix, which can be seen in the short promo below.
Aquaman is set to hit theaters over a year after the most recent entry in the DC Extended Universe, 2017’s Justice League. It may have been a while since fans have seen the heroes of DC on the big screen but when Aquaman arrives in December, it will kick off a very interesting DC film slate. In April 2019, the light-hearted action-comedy Shazam! hits theaters and the Joaquin Phoenix-starring Joker film will arrive in October of the same year.
After that, the next two DC films to hit the big screen will Birds of Prey and the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2017 blockbuster Wonder Woman 1984.
