According to some long range tracking from Box Office Pro, Aquaman is expected to take the box office throne above Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns. The James Wan-directed DC movie is expected to gross within the range of $40 to 60 million in its first three days. Box Office Pro cites the strong contingent of DC fans ready for this standalone adventure for the King of Atlantis while also expressing that the rest of the cast will also draw interest from men, women and children alike.
As for Bumblebee, the Transformers spinoff film is expected to gross within $15 – 25 million in its opening weekend while Mary Poppins Returns is expected to gross $30 to 50 million.
While this long-range tracking for Aquaman is pretty small when compared to other DCEU films’ opening weekends, the competition it has may be a factor. However, positive word of mouth can help keep Aquaman afloat not just during the holiday season, but well after it too.
