‘Aquaman’ Continues Box Office Reign As It Passes ‘Venom’

There’s no stopping Aquaman, as the latest DC Films flick has now passed Venom at the North American box office.

According to Forbes, Aquaman earned $16.7 million on Tuesday. That’s up 66% from Monday, bringing the film’s 12-day domestic total to $216.285 million. The James Wan-directed DC Comics movie has now passed a number of major 2018 releases, including Venom, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Ant-Man and the Wasp. It should be easily able to swim past Mission: Impossible – Fallout ($220 million) later today as it continues to dominate the box office.

With no competition until Glass, which opens on January 18, Aquaman is expected to remain at the top of the box office and become the biggest DC Films release to date. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the current record holder with $873.6 million worldwide. Aquaman should pass $900 million by the end of its run, with certain analysts even saying that it could cross the $1 billion mark.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.
