Arthur Curry’s first cinematic solo outing has now grossed $216.3 million in North America and $606.5 million overseas for a global total of $822.9 million, passing Wonder Woman, which brought in $821.8 million in 2017. Aquaman should swim past Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($873.6 million) soon to become the highest-grossing DC Comics movie since 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, not adjusted for inflation.
With no competition until Glass, which opens on January 18, Aquaman is expected to remain at the top of the box office. The film should pass $900 million by the end of its run, with certain analysts even saying that it could cross the $1 billion mark.
Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.
