‘Aquaman’ Concept Art Puts The Spotlight On The Karathen

A new set of concept art images have been released that showcase the gargantuan Karathen in James Wan’s Aquaman.

These new images surfaced online this morning and the art is as amazing as the visuals put into the film. You can view the set of images below:

The first image places Jason Momoa’s Aquaman on top of the Karathen monster, voiced by Julie Andrews, while wearing his iconic armor from the film. As we saw in the film, Aquaman was able to use his abilities to speak to the creature protecting Atlan’s trident. Doing so, he was able to gain his place as King of the Seven Seas and command all sea life, including Karathen. This image showcases the bond Aquaman built with the creature as he is leaning against it while holding his new trident. There is an incredible amount of detail on both characters, especially along the face of Karathen near her eye.

The second image is pretty much the same as the previous one, but from a farther distance to showcase the size of the creature. Alongside Aquaman, one could see that the creature is very much bigger than the size of a human. There is lots of lighting in the image that allows for a greater view of the size and detail. The creature looks terrifying and threatening with its sharp teeth and what seems to be two eyes on each side.

There then seems to be a closer look of the two underwater in what seems to be the moment Aquaman begins to lead Karathen. Aquaman can be seen swimming in front while the creature follows behind. In this image, fans can get a closer look at the design of Karathen.

The final image seems to contain a greater focus on Karathen as there is a much better look of her entire body. In this image, fans can see the tentacles she has for movement along with sharp claws in the front. This is a great glimpse of the beautiful design that was presented in film.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson, as Orm/Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry. Here is the film’s synopsis:

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime-one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who was born to be… a king.

Aquaman is in theaters now. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more updates on Aquaman and the rest of the DC Extended Universe.
