‘Aquaman’ Director James Wan Debunks Trailer Rumor

'Aquaman' director James Wan commented on an Instagram post to debunk rumors about the film's trailer that were started by a composer.

While the Cyborg film is some time away and the Flash having just locked down the directors, Aquaman is the first DC character outside the trinity of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to have his solo outing. Under the keen eye of visionary horror maestro James Wan, the King of Atlantis, played by Jason Momoa, is due for his movie this December. While fans have been treated to stills and behind-the-scenes photos from the cast and crew, no one has been more involved in disseminating information than the director himself. As part of his responsibility in sharing official news, Wan also has taken it upon himself to debunk rumors and fake news pertaining to Aquaman.

A few days ago, composer Carlos Villalobos uploaded a post on Instagram implying that he is working on the music for the Aquaman trailer. Fans were excited to learn that the trailer will be out soon, but soon afterwards, the post was deleted. Fans speculated that the composer let out a secret, but director James Wan commented on another post to say that Villalobos “has nothing to do” with the trailer, even going so far to say that he “don’t know who this dude is.”

“He has nothing to do with our trailer at all. Don’t know who this dude is. Well, he’s totally allowed to do anything he wants, but that doesn’t mean people should pick up any random stuff out on the internet as news. Patience. Lots of work. Wanna make sure it rocks. Thank you.”

While this news may be a bummer to many, Wan also cautions that fans should be careful about treating everything they read online as not official until the powers that be confirm or deny any rumors.

Directed by James Wan, the film stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius/Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko.

Aquaman hits theaters on December 21, 2018.
