‘Aquaman’ Director James Wan Promises Film “Wont Be Very Dark”

Following the heavy criticism that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was overly dark in nature, Aquaman director James Wan tries to dispel any fears by assuring fans that the film wont follow that.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the director stated:

“It won’t be very dark…It is at the bottom of the ocean, so I’ll use a lot of light!”

While it clearly seems like the director is having a fun play on words, assuring fans that despite the film taking place under the ocean he will use plenty of lights to illuminate the film, it goes without saying that with DC’s recent shift in  creative control, its likely the film will be a lot more fun than its predecessor.

Despite all of the recent reshuffling that has occurred within the DC Film team, James Wan has remained steady on his involvement and commitment to Aquaman, and although the director primarily has a history of making serious horror films, he proved with ‘Furious 7’ that he can also handle a little humor when called for.

With no official synopsis fans are left to speculate what the film will be about, but with rumors stating the film will involve ongoing tensions between Atlantis and the human world, and also a long history of conflict with the Amazonians, many have speculated the film will be help set the stage for many elements needed in Justice League Part Two.

Aquaman staring Jason Momoa and Amber Heard is set to hit theaters on July 27, 2018.
