Responding to a Twitter question from a curious fan, Wan confirmed that Aqualad will not be appearing in the Aquaman film. You can check out the post below!
“Absolutely not at all. But thanks for asking.”
Though fans expressed their disappointment, Wan offered an explanation for his decision to not include Aqualad by comparing the King of Atlantis and his protege to another dynamic duo from DC Comics lore.
“How about we get Batman established properly first, before we cram in Robin.”
Disheartened fans may take some comfort in the fact that while Aqualad may not be making his live-action cinematic debut anytime soon, actor Khary Payton recently revealed that he will return to voice the character in the third season of the revived Young Justice animated series.
Aquaman stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen and Temuera Morrison. Nicole Kidman is reportedly in talks to play the titular hero’s mother.
Aquaman will be released in theaters on October 5, 2018.
