Video: ‘Aquaman’ Star Jason Momoa Delivers Powerful UN Speech Against Ocean Pollution

Aquaman star Jason Momoa delivered a powerful speech on ocean pollution to the United Nations.

Warner Bros. and DC’s Aquaman centered on Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry as he struggled to accept his place the King of Atlantis and overthrow his half-brother Orm. While Jason Momoa’s offered audiences more than its fair share of spectacle, the film also commented on the ocean pollution humanity has caused, which served as the primary motivation for King Orm’s plan to wage war on the surface.

In real-life Jason Momoa has been an active participant the fight against the climate crisis and the Aquaman star delivered a six-minute address on the ocean pollution to the United Nations on Friday. In his speech, Aquaman star Jason Momoa pointed out the devastating effects of the man-made pollution on the oceans and the life that calls it home:

“The oceans are in a state of emergency. Entire marine ecosystems are vanishing with the warming of the seas. And as the waste of the world empties into our waters, we face the devastating crisis of plastic pollution.”

Towards the end of his speech, Aquaman star Jason Momoa bluntly stated, “Change cannot come in 2050, or 2030, or even 2025. The change must come today.”

Jason Momoa is set to reprise his role as Arthur Curry in Warner Bros.’ Aquaman sequel. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is working on the script for the Aquaman 2, with James Wan expected to return to the director’s chair.
