On Monday, Planned Parenthood announced it was withdrawing from the federal family-planning program known as Title X, which has provided affordable birth control and reproductive health care to young and poor women since its creation. The non-profit organization opted to withdraw from the program rather than follow a new rule imposed by the administration of President Donald Trump that prohibits clinics from referring women for abortions.
The decision to withdraw from the program will result in a loss of federal funding and Aquaman star Amber Heard took to social media to defend Planned Parenthood against the draconian rule imposed by Donald Trump’s administration. In her post, the Mera actress noted that health is under attack like never before” but assured Donald Trump that Planned Parenthood is here to stay, affirming that she stands with the organization.
