‘Aquaman’ Projected To Earn $120M+ Over 5-Day Christmas Stretch

Deadline reports that Aquaman is swimming towards a $120 million-plus debut at the domestic box office over the 5-day Christmas stretch, according to projections.

Warner Bros.’ Aquaman will make its North American debut on Friday and while it is currently projected to earn $65 million to $70 million from Friday through Sunday, it is reportedly thought that the DC film will gross $120 million-plus over the Friday to Christmas Tuesday stretch. While the projected 3-day intake would put Aquaman behind the $93.8 gross of Justice League over the same period of time, the King of Atlantis’ first standalone movie would surpass the superhero team-up film’s $111.9 million five-day gross if projections are met.

Some projections have Aquaman reaching $150 over five days, though the outlet describes those figures as “lofty.”

The film has already earned north of $266.4 million overseas.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an acition-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.

Aquaman will be released in theaters on December 21, 2018.
