Prior to his career as a screenwriter, Beall served as Los Angeles Police Department detective. He later went on to write Warner Bros’ Gangster Squad and exec produced Training Day, the CBS drama based on the hit film. He was previously attached to write Justice League but was later replaced by Chris Terrio. Despite that minor setback, Beall is still part of the DC Extended Universe.
The first film in the Universal Monsters universe will be The Mummy, which just revealed a new poster ahead of its second trailer which debuts this Sunday.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
Directed by Alex Kurtzman, the film stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, and Russell Crowe.
The Mummy will be released in theaters on June 9, 2017.
