Armie Hammer has been a fan favorite to replace Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight for some time now. The actor was recently a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and once again denied rumors that he’s replacing Ben Affleck as Batman, but he also mentioned that he’d be down to play the character if he was to receive a call by Warner Brothers. Here’s what Armie Hammer had to say when Jimmy Fallon brought up the rumors:
“This is the thing about rumors. They’re all fine, they’re all well and good, but none of the people who start rumors are actually the people who can give you jobs.”
Then, Armie Hammer mentioned the reports claiming he’s replacing Ben Affleck as Batman.
“So it’s always like, ‘Oh, are you going to play Batman?’ And I’m like, ‘Well you just asked me but guess who hasn’t – Warner Bros’.”
Jimmy Fallon then asked Armie Hammer if he’d consider it. This is what the actor had to say about taking on the cape and cowl.
“Yes, who wouldn’t want to be Batman? I think every guy in this audience would want to be Batman if they could. It’s a good gig.”
Ben Affleck garnered much love and support when audiences witnessed his portrayal of the iconic DC Comics character in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ben Affleck went on to portray the Caped Crusader in two more films, with many looking forward to what would’ve been his solo film. This all changed when Warner Bros. began to change the slate for DC Films and Ben Affleck dropped out of The Batman. It’s worth noting that Ben Affleck is still interested in directing a DC Films project, so fans could one day see him return to the DC Extended Universe, but this time as a director. As for Armie Hammer, the actor can next be seen in Hotel Mumbai.
Would you like to see Armie Hammer as the next Batman? Are there any other actors you have in mind to replace Ben Affleck? Let us know in the comments!
