Armie Hammer Reiterates That He Hasn’t Been Offered Batman Role

Armie Hammer was once cast as Batman in George Miller’s long-lost Justice League: Mortal. Obviously, that film didn’t pan out, which has left many speculating that the actor could get a second chance in Matt Reeve’s upcoming The Batman. Recently, however, Armie Hammer reiterated earlier comments about not even being approached for the role.

Speaking to USA Today, Armie Hammer stated again that nobody with any real authority to grant the actor the role has actually approached him about doing so. During the interview, the Call Me By Your Name star was asked if he would like to don the cape and cowl for Matt Reeves’ upcoming film, to which Armie Hammer replied:

“Yeah, that’s the problem: I’ve never been approached, but if I was, I would jump at the opportunity. You can only say “no” or “yes” to projects you’re offered.”

Still, Armie Hammer has his own opinions on the caped crusaders who have come both before and after him. When asked if he had a favorite portrayal of the Caped Crusader, his response was:

“They’re all such different animals, which is great. Michael Keaton was obviously my first Batman, but the Christian Bale version was also absolutely incredible. But no one will top the Batman nipples that George Clooney had.”

What do you make of Armie Hammer’s statements? Do you agree that no one will top Clooney’s iconic rubber nipples? Do you even believe his statements about not being approached to play The Dark Knight? Sound off in the comments below and let your voice be heard!

Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and includes multiple villains. Matt Reeves also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic and will use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films.

Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the film and all of Warner Bros. upcoming DC Films and television projects!

The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
