No, Armie Hammer Has Not Been Cast As Matt Reeves’ Batman

Armie Hammer is not in talks to replace Ben Affleck and star in Matt Reeves’ Batman project.

Ben Affleck finally confirmed he will not be playing Batman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming film. Furthermore, the search is on for the next actor to step into the cape and cowl. Matt Reeves reportedly has a specific age in mind and Armie Hammer was the latest actor rumored to be in talks for the role. Of course, Armie Hammer was originally cast as the caped crusader in George Miller’s cancelled Justice League Mortal back in 2007. Despite the rumors, The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez has learned the report going around of Armie Hammer in talks to play Matt Reeves’ Batman is not true.

Plot details for Matt Reeves’ film are currently under wraps. However, it is said to revolve around a young caped crusader in a noir driven story taking advantage of a detective element. Matt Reeves has also previously confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic.

The Batman is set to open in theaters on June 25, 2021.
