‘Arrow’ EP Wanted ‘Crisis On Earth-X’ Released As A Movie

Be it Marvel or DC, one thing that makes these superhero TV shows so fun are the crossover events. For DC, it’s been a seasonal tradition for each series to bring in heroes from other shows  — this time, it’s a big one. The four-part ‘Crisis on Earth X’ will be combining Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.

Executive Producer and Show Runner Of Arrow, Marc Guggenheim has revealed that he intended for Crisis on Earth-X to be a full fledged TV movie. The idea was cut short due to union rules involving credit. You can check out his tweet below.

Crisis On Earth-X was the crossover Arrowverse fans had been waiting for, bringing together the universes of all four CW DC programs into one epic showdown. Now, a DC Comics concept artist who works on the design of the shows gave us a peek behind the scenes to see some in-progress looks at the characters.

Here’s the synopsis for Crisis On Earth-X:

THE EPIC FOUR-WAY CROSSOVER WITH “ARROW,” “SUPERGIRL,” “THE FLASH” AND “DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW” BEGINS — Barry (guest star Grant Gustin) and Iris’s (guest star Candice Patton) wedding brings the gang together, but things go awry when villains from Earth-X attack the ceremony. All of the superheroes band together with help from their super friends like Citizen Cold (guest star Wentworth Miller), The Ray (guest star Russell Tovey), Felicity Smoak (guest star Emily Bett Rickards), Iris West and Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) to take on their most formidable villains yet. Earth’s mightiest heroes – Green Arrow (guest star Stephen Amell), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), The Flash (guest star Grant Gustin) and White Canary (guest star Caity Lotz) – lead their teams into battle to save the world. Larry Teng directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg & Marc Guggenheim and teleplay by Robert Rovner & Jessica Queller (#308).

The Arrow-verse shows will return next week starting with Supergirl on Monday at 8|7c only on The CW.
