Mericle explained how Felicity’s efforts to free Diggle, who was last seen being arrested and facing charges for which he was framed, will give Diggle a reason to be concerned for his friend.
“He’s going to be grappling with a different set of challenges in Felicity. Part of what kicks her off down this darker path is she’s going to find evidence to exonerate him — and he’s going to have to deal with the fallout of the fact that Felicity is now going down a questionable path in part because of him.”
Mericle had previously told Screener TV that Felicity’s grief will also contribute to her taking a dark path for a long time.
“The grieving [her dead boyfriend] is not going to stop. We’re going to be feeling the repercussions of what happened with Malone at least through episode 520.”
