So the most recent episode of Arrow had us bid farewell to not one, but two staples of the series. While William is set to live with his grandparents in Central City, the show has now also, for the moment, lost Echo Kellum’s Curtis Holt/Mr. Terrific.
For some of the recent episodes of Arrow, Curtis has been butting heads with Diggle and Lyla on their approach. Last night’s episode brought that to the forefront with Curtis revealing to Diggle that he had been offered a position in Washington, D.C. While Diggle countered by offering Curtis the position of running A.R.G.U.S.’ entire scientific division, if just as a way to keep Curtis around, Curtis ultimately turned down the offer. Thus, the series bid farewell to another regular within the Arrow cast.
However, in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Arrow star Echo Kellum explained his exit as a series regular, how he left the door open for Curtis to return, and how he approached Marc Guggenheim with the news of his looming exit.
“I approached Marc [Guggenheim]. We had a long conversation about family and fatherhood and all those things, and he totally got where I was coming from. You know, Warner Bros. and the network were so generous to be able to let me exit gracefully. What I will say, this isn’t the end of Curtis. I’ll definitely come back as much as they want me back, and visit and guest-star and whatnot. So, it’s not the end of him.”
Kellum went on to say that he enjoyed the story decision in which Curtis exited Team Arrow, as it goes back to his desire to help people, which he will do with his position in Washington, D.C. After last night’s episode premiered on the East Coast, Kellum took to Twitter to explain his exit to Arrow fans… while also warning those on the West Coast who had not yet seen the episode.
Still, though, what do you think of Curtis’ exit from Arrow? Would you want to see him return, either in a future episode or maybe crossover event like the upcoming Crisis On Infinite Earths? Let us know your thoughts on Mr. Terrific’s exit from the Arrowverse in the comments below.
Arrow airs on Monday nights at 8 P.M. on the CW.
