To throw a potential wrench into things, Rickards and Katie Cassidy – who played Laurel Lance and who now plays Black Siren – entertained the idea of a Felicity-Oliver-Black Siren love triangle, and both said they think the idea has potential.
While answering questions at a Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in London over the past weekend, the two Arrow stars were asked what they thought about the idea of such a love triangle.
Emily Bett Rickards seems to be on board with the idea, saying “I wanna watch it. I’d watch that show!”
Chiming in, Cassidy said: “That’s interesting. That would be a really interesting dynamic. I don’t know why, maybe it’s because we’re so close, but it’s so fun playing my Black Siren against Felicity. I just think this whole other thing comes out of me.”
Even though both Rickards and Cassidy aren’t opposed to the idea, the thought of such a love triangle might just make at least half the Arrow fandom implode. Plus, Black Siren is a relatively new character without a lot of established backstory, so there’s a lot more work to be done with the character, and it’s doubtful the Arrow writers would even consider having Oliver fall for her – even if she does have Laurel’s face. Still, it is Arrow and crazier things have happened.
Arrow Season 6 will begin sometime in October in its new time slot: Thursday nights at 9/8c on The CW.
