Artist BossLogic has posted some new artwork online that imagines Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot switching superhero roles with Scarlet Johansson, who plays Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Earlier this weekend, BossLogic released artwork that imagined Thor star Chris Hemsworth as the DC Extended Universe’s Aquaman, instead of Jason Momoa. The superhero movie landscape hasn’t featured many films led by female heroes, which is one of the reasons that 2017’s Wonder Woman was such a big hit and beloved by audiences and critics alike. For years prior to Gal Gadot’s first appearance as Wonder Woman, fans had been clamoring for a Black Widow movie. Ever since Scarlet Johansson debuted in 2010’s Iron Man 2, fans have wanted to see the secret agent/superhero headline her own movie but 8 years after her MCU introduction, there has still yet to be a Black Widow solo movie.
Thankfully, it seems that the Avenger is finally getting her own movie in the next MCU phase, and Gadot herself will be headlining the sequel Wonder Woman 1984 in June of 2020. The two stars are easily two of the most iconic female superheroes to appear on the big screen but one thing that’s fascinating is the idea of a world where the two actresses swapped roles. In two new pieces of artwork that BossLogic posted via Twitter, the artist imagines that very concept. Check out the impressive art in the posts below.
Before Black Widow stars in her own solo movie, she will next appear in Avengers 4, given that she was one of the few Marvel heroes that survived Thanos’ cataclysmic snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. The number of talented actors that appear in superhero films in the last decade certainly make for fascinating role-swapping opportunities, so it will be interesting to see which duo BossLogic targets next.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Black Widow and Wonder Woman as soon as more information becomes available. What’s your opinion on the artwork?
