New Fan Art Imagines George Miller’s ‘Justice League Mortal’

It seems that some unrealized projects will never be forgotten as a fan put together an image that imagined what George Miller’s Justice League Mortal film could have looked like.

The image in question shows the entire Justice League in what appears to be the command center of the Watch Tower. In it, we see what could have been George Miller’s version of The Flash, Aquaman, Superman, Batman, The Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. The characters, however, are not doing anything in particular as they stare towards a prospective audience.

The story of George Miller’s Justice Leauge film is perhaps one of the more tragic in modern filmmaking. The director, who is best known for his work on the Mad Max films, conceived the idea for a Justice League film before the Marvel Cinematic Universe came into existence. Sadly the film never went into full production as a combination of the 2008 Writers Guild of America strike, issues on the studio side of Warner Bros. and an ever-increasing budget saw the film axed before a single shot was ever filmed.

Production was along far enough, however, that several actors were already cast. This included, most famously, Armie Hammer as Batman, Common as Green Lantern and Adam Brody as The Flash. While some of the castings are questionable, based on what we have seen George Miller do, it would have been something to behold.

The director would go on to make a sequel to his 2006 animated film, Happy Feet before returning to the Max Max franchise with Mad Max: Fury Road which was met with critical praise and earned the director two Oscar nominations. And based on his work on that film, his work on Justice League would have been something to behold.

Is this the first time that you have heard about Justice League Mortal? Have you read the script? Would it have made a better film than the Zack Snyder film? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
