New ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Images Surface From Haystack

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise ranks among the best selling video game series of all time and come the holiday season, fans and movie-goers will be treated to yet another installment of the ever expanding world with the 20th Century Fox produced film Assassin’s Creed. To be clear, the film is NOT an adaptation of the game’s story. It’s a separate entity altogether taking place in the same universe but forging its own path and thus allowing both newcomers and fans to walk in on equal terms.

Directed by Justin Kurzel, from a screenplay by Michael Lesslie & Adam Cooper & Bill Collage, the film, which reunites Kurzel with Macbeth stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, follows criminal Callum Lynch who is saved from execution by the mysterious Abstergo Industries, a modern day incarnation of the Templar Order. There, he is forced to participate in the Animus Project, a program in which Lynch is forced to relive the memories of his ancestor, Aguilar de Nerha: an assassin who operated during the Spanish Inquisition. As Lynch delves deeper into the past, he gains greater insight into the conflict between the assassins and the Templar and this newfound knowledge may aid him as the conflict carries into the present.

A handful of new images have popped up online which offer a closer look at some of the major players audiences will be introduced to come opening night. Among them are Fassbender’s Callum Lynch/Aguilar, Marion Cotillard’s Sophia Rikkin, the head scientist in charge of the Animus, Jeremy Irons’ Alan Rikkin, Sophia’s father and head of the organization, and Ariane Labed’s Maria, a fellow assassin to Aguilar in the past. There’s even a shot of Kurzel himself directing Cotillard in a present day scene.

Assassin’s Creed opens on December 21. The film is directed by Justin Kurzel. Check the images out below.

I love movies. All types of movies of which I have many opinions. You may or may not agree with them, but they are mine.
