AT&T Says Warner Bros’ Upcoming Films Could See Further Delays

Despite the upcoming opening for films like Tenet, AT&T has hinted at further delays for Warner Bros’ upcoming releases.

Since the coronavirus spread outside of China, many businesses had to fundamentally alter the way they practiced. The movie industry was hit particularly hard by this with movie theaters closing their doors, productions shutting down and films delaying their release dates. Studios like Warner Bros did, however, expected the Covid-19 situation to be cleared up by now and scheduled the release dates of many of their films like Tenet and Wonder Woman 1984 to reflect this. Now, however, Warner Bros parent company AT&T has suggested that further delays of these titles may be possible.

During the Oppenheimer Virtual Technology, Internet & Communications Conference, AT&T CFO John Stephens spoke about the coronavirus’s effects on the way the company distributed its content and how it intends to adapt to it. When asked about the company’s upcoming theatrical releases Stephens was unsure what was going to happen to them:

“I am not certain where those are going to go.”

He did, however, suggest that “further delays in some of the titles” would be possible. He did not mention which titles these might include nor how long the delay might be.

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, the film stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, and Himesh Patel. Christopher Nolan also serves as a producer alongside his wife Emma Thomas, with Thomas Hayslip on board as an executive producer.

Tenet will begin its international roll out on August 26. The film will enter U.S. cinemas in select cities starting September 3.
