Aubrey Plaza Is Down To Play Catwoman In Matt Reeves ‘The Batman’

Legion star Aubrey Plaza has made no secret of her desire to play Catwoman, and now the actress has “auditioned” for the role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

In an recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Aubrey Plaza reiterated her desire to play Catwoman on the big screen. During the interview, Plaza was asked about reports she wants to suit up as the iconic DC Comics character. Here’s what she told the host:

“Okay, I’ve said that in like a couple interviews because… I get asked questions like, ‘If you were a superhero, which one would you want to be?’ And I just always think of Catwoman because I just love that character and I love the Catwoman movie. The Halle Berry one. But it’s not something I think about every day… I’m just not gonna even try to get that part. There’s no way in Hell they’re gonna cast me.”

Things then took an unexpected turn, with Stephen Colbert giving Aubrey Plaza a pair of cat ears and the actress making “meow” sounds and licking the host’s face. You can check out Aubrey Plaza’s Catwoman “audition” in the video below.

Former Bruce Wayne Ben Affleck was originally set to write and direct The Batman. He eventually stepped down and handed the duties to Matt Reeves, who’s been attached to the movie since February 2017. Nearly a year later, Ben Affleck revealed that he had decided to hang up the cape and cowl, allowing Reeves to look for a younger Batman.

Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that reportedly includes Catwoman. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, The Suicide Squad, Supergirl, Plastic Man and New Gods.

The Batman is set to hit theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned for more updates.
