Ava DuVernay May Have Just Confirmed Darkseid For ‘New Gods’ Movie

Ava DuVernay may have confirmed Darkseid will appear in Warner Bros. and DC’s New Gods film.

When Ava DuVernay signed on to direct a New Gods film for Warner Bros. and DC, fans immediately began speculating on which members of the fictional race would appear in the feature. On the top of many people’s wishlist is Darkseid, the tyrannical ruler of the planet Apokolips who aims to conquer the universe and eliminate all free will.

Now, Ava DuVernay seems to have confirmed Darkseid will appear in the New Gods film in response to a fan’s Twitter question on the matter. After confirming her intention to include Big Barda and the Female Furies in New Gods, Ava DuVernay responded to the aforementioned question on whether or not the ruler of Apokolips is in the film by writing, “Darkseid is.”

Directed by Ava DuVernay who co-writes with Tom King, Warner Bros. and DC’s New Gods film will be based on characters created and designed by Jack Kirby. Details on the film are currently unknown, though comic book incarnations of the New Gods have included characters such as Granny Goodness, Desaad, Godfrey, and the powerful villain Darkseid.

New Gods is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Batman, The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, and Nightwing.
