The Russo Brothers finally revealed whether or not the indefinite hold on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘s production would affect Avengers 4.
Many fans have wondered whether or not the controversy surrounding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would change the outcome of the characters in the upcoming Avengers 4. In July of this year, writer/director James Gunn was fired from the trilogy-ending Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, which left many fans and people in the industry quite upset.
Dave Bautista, who plays Drax in the Guardians films and Avengers: Infinity War, has been very outspoken about his feelings towards Disney and how they handled the James Gunn situation. Because of this fans have wondered if his character, in particular, would be written out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers 4. Joe and Anthony Russo, the directing duo behind Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, recently attended a screening of Infinity War and had some interesting things to say regarding the situation.
After the screening, which was part of the Collider Screening Series, the directors took part in a Q&A. One of the questions asked was whether or not Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 being put on indefinite hold required them to rework the group’s outcome in Avengers 4. Don’t worry Guardians fans, because according to the Russo Bros, no changes were required to be made to their film.
Avengers 4 is set for release next May and it’s, presumably, such a massive balancing act with many plates spinning on sticks that it would probably be difficult to re-work such an integral part of the story. One of the most exciting things about Avengers: Infinity War was seeing the Guardians on-screen with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes for the first time and it did not disappoint.
Hopefully, there will be more adventures with the Guardians and the Avengers in the future.
