Avengers 4 is expected to focus on the surviving members of the team trying to find ways to reverse Thanos’ snap. However, the power that the Infinity Stones give Thanos is incomparable to anyone else in the MCU. That power can truly corrupt one’s mind, and Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 co-writer Christopher Markus teases that Thanos may be tempted to do the snap again, which he explains in the Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War – The Art of the Movie book.
“[The Infinity Stones have] been misused by people who didn’t understand their true power. And now that the real master of them, Thanos , has shown up we can see what they actually do. The problem is, as you can imagine, as you gain control over these things, your story just goes haywire because why are there any stakes for the man who can control time, space, reality, your mind, your soul and power? He can reset as many times as it’ll take. So you have to build in a lot of bumps in the road or maybe keep one stone away from him for long enough in order for the thing to have any dramatic structure at all.”
Either way, the surviving members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and their new allies, the Guardians of the Galaxy are going to have the most dangerous mission of their entire lives as they thrive to reverse Thanos’ snap. Hopefully, they succeed, and Thanos will end up being the one not feeling so good.
