It always somehow links back to Age of Ultron, doesn’t it? Or, at least, the theories about how that film will somehow inform the events of Avengers: Endgame, as well as how fans theorized that the second Avengers film would set up events in Infinity War. We’ve heard before how Tony Stark mentioned “the endgame” in Age of Ultron, but one Reddit theory expands on that scene and points towards the additional dialogue in that scene. More to the point, how it could have set up two key deaths in Avengers: Endgame next year.
In that same scene in Age of Ultron, after Tony talks about “the endgame” in reference to the events of the Battle of New York from The Avengers, he asks the rest of Earth’s mightiest heroes how they planned on beating that. Steve Rogers, ever the optimist, responded that they would beat it together. Okay, and if they lost? Again, Steve stated that they would do that together, too. Given the somber tone of the first trailer for Avengers: Endgame, easy to understand, given the ending of Infinity War, it seems that a huge risk will be taken.
A risk that could result in the defeat of Thanos, but with a heavy cost. Well, after half of humanity has been snapped out of existence- I am not referring to it as The Decimation- you’ll pretty much need to pull out all of the stops in order to best the Mad Titan in Avengers: Endgame. Here, have a look at the theory posted on Reddit:
It’s a given at this point that many, if not all of the deaths in Infinity War will be undone by the time that Avengers: Endgame is all said and done, but the question remains at what cost? Will one or several heroes pay the price? And how would they reunite to begin with? As Tony told Bruce- who had been out of the loop for quite some time- the Avengers as a whole are no more. However, given the huge losses, this may be what brings the gang back together for one last mission. Could this be what amends the rift between Tony and Steve?
And who in the end do you believe may die at the end of this film? Is this theory plausible or does it seem like a stretch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
