Avengers: Infinity War featured a number of otherwise surprising team-ups. Perhaps the most unexpected was the team-up between Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. The team-up was prompted by Doctor Strange being kidnapped by Ebony Maw who took Benedict Cumberbatch’s character into space, intending to deliver his Infinity Stone to Thanos. Luckily both Iron Man and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man were on hand to rescue the good doctor and Ebony Maw was shot out into space. But, once upon a time, this scene played out a bit differently.
In a recent post, artist John Staub revealed how the scene was, in part, originally supposed to play out. Staub worked in the art department for Avengers: Infinity War and revealed what the plan was. According to Staub, Iron Man was originally going to take a little bit longer to find Doctor Strange, with the latter’s astral projection form giving him grief for taking so long.
