‘Avengers’ Series And ‘Avatar’ To Get Chinese Re-Release To Boost Theater Re-Openings

China is looking to re-release the Avengers series as well as Avatar in a bid to boost sales of theaters re-opening after the coronavirus pandemic.

After the coronavirus pandemic caused China to go into complete lockdown, the country is finally returning to a sense of normality. Theaters have finally begun opening, initially showing several popular films from the past few years. But it seems like the Avengers series as well as James Cameron’s Avatar will get re-released in an attempt to draw more audiences to theaters while also putting money back into the companies that have taken an extreme financial hit during the pandemic.

According to THR, as soon as the digital cinema packages for the re-releases arrive at theaters the movies will start showing. Christopher Nolan’s Inception and Interstellar are also among the films returning to screens. The report mentions that between 600 and 700 theaters have opened in the days since China saw a rapid decline in its coronavirus cases. The theaters will get to keep all of the ticket revenue as a way of stabilizing their financial situation – instead of kicking up the 43% of sales back to producers and distributors.

Do you think the U.S. should also re-release films like the Avengers series to push sales when theaters start to open again? Would you watch the re-release of James Cameron’s Avatar? Sound off in the comments!

Here is the official synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin.
