‘Avengers: Endgame’ Directors Filmed ‘Captain Marvel’ Mid-Credits Scene

It has been revealed that Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo directed the mid-credits scene in Captain Marvel.

Spoilers ahead for Captain Marvel!

The Avengers: Infinity War end-credits scene featured Nick Fury contacting Carol Danvers with a pager before he was dusted. The end credits also teased the pre-existing Nick Fury and Carol Danvers relationship that was explored in Captain Marvel. It’s revealed in Captain Marvel that Carol Danvers gave Nick Fury the pager for an emergency. Many believed the solo film might feature more connections to Avengers: Endgame, but there is really only one direct lead-in.

Captain Marvel‘s mid-credits scene features Captain America and the Avengers at the upstate New York headquarters after Thanos’ snap. The Avengers are shown to have obtained Nick Fury’s pager and wonder who it was contacting. Then, Carol Danvers appears to the team and asks where Nick Fury is. Captain Marvel Co-director Anna Boden revealed the Russo brothers actually directed the mid-credits scene, in an interview with Empire:

“It’s really a direct lead-in to their movie. They came up with the concept for it, and we said, ‘That sounds awesome.'”

The Russos directing the mid-credits scene makes sense, and it isn’t the first time another director has tackled the stinger. Brie Larson also filmed her role in Avengers: Endgame before her solo film, and she is seen in a new costume during the mid-credits scene as well. It also seems to confirm that the Big Game TV Sport probably removed Carol Danvers in a few scenes at Avengers HQ, like many fans speculated.

What are your thoughts on the Captain Marvel mid-credits scene? Are you surprised she will already be with the team at the start of Avengers: Endgame? Sound off in the comments below!
